We exist because

  • Almost 40% of businesses trading in Australia are owned by women; which equates to more than 700,000 SMEs.
  • Women represent the largest economic force: we control the family and the business spending; we are the biggest consumers and have the buying power. Women deserve equal power.
  • There are no women holding the position of Chair nor of CEO on any of the seven national chambers in Australia.
  •  ‘The peak council of Australian business associations’, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), has no women on the board of ‘the largest and most representative business association.’ They ‘represent more than ‘300,000 employers’.
  • Retirement needs to be equitable.
  • Businesswomen in Australia want the opportunity to contribute to policy that affects their businesses, families and communities.
  • Data is needed to report and monitor contract procurement in the private sector, local and federal governments, in order to assist business growth.
  • Around 12% of women occupy management positions (private sector) and hold around 23% of chair or deputy chair positions. In federal parliament women comprise 28.3% of members and senators and 9% are engaged as private board directors. We need to keep working toward equality.
